The Alliance Board of Education approved Jennifer Herdman as the next principal of Alliance Intermediate School at the regular board meeting held on Tuesday.
Herdman was hired in the fall of 2022 as an English teacher at Alliance High School. She came to the district from Conotton Valley High School. In 2023, Herdman stepped into the role of Assistant Principal at AHS, where she served for the past two years. During her time at AHS, she led a number of committees, and worked to build trusting relationships with staff, students and families.
“I’m honored and excited to step into the role of Principal at Alliance Intermediate School,” Herdman said. “The Alliance school community is something truly special, and I look forward to working at AIS alongside our dedicated staff, supportive families, and—most importantly—incredible students. Together, we’ll build on the traditions of excellence and continue creating a place where everyone feels seen, supported, and inspired to grow.”
Herdman spent the first 14 years of her education career teaching in Pennsylvania before moving to Ohio. However, her connection with the Alliance community runs deep having graduated from Mount Union in 1991.
“AIS has a great staff of dedicated professionals who are committed to doing what’s best for students,” said Rob Gress, Superintendent of Schools. “Jenn will be a great addition to their team and will work tirelessly to ensure that they have everything they need for our students to succeed.”
Herdman will work alongside veteran assistant principal, Erica Jackson, to ensure a smooth transition for all AIS students, staff and families.
Herdman is taking over the position from Stephanie Garren, who announced her resignation from AIS at the end of May to further her administrative career in a nearby district.
