Artist Bill Starcher brought his large-scale recycled creations to Alliance Intermediate School this week! Starcher's creations are made out of recycled motorcycle tires and repurposed silverware. He calls his artwork "Imagination thinking out loud!" and wishes to inspire the youth to take part in the arts. The students loved seeing the sculptures and have the opportunity to explore them to see how they were made. Thank you for stopping by AIS, Mr. Starcher! #RepthatA

In celebration of the Total Solar Eclipse, students at Alliance Intermediate School created Eclipse-themed chalk art. Using black paper, students used a stencil to trace the Eclipse in white chalk. They used bright and colorful chalk pastels for the background. As a final touch, they used their finger to push the white chalk from the Eclipse to create a glowing effect. How cool! #RepthatA

4th grade students in Casey Cross' and Melanie Dubaj's reading classes, have been studying animal adaptions in non-fiction texts as well as fictional folktales "explaining" how animal traits came to be. The learning extended to art class where students' created a watercolor chameleon. In music class, the students learned by adding multi-cultural folktales to the Choir's Spring Concert set list. This team effort took student learning deeper and made for meaningful conversations and connections across academics and fine arts! #RepthatA
